Htay Aung was born in 1955, in Today. He educated at the High School of Tontay. He attended the Yangon state School of Fine Art in Yangon for three years and got a special certificate in 1973. His teachers were U Thu Kha, U Ba Lone Galay, U Thein Han etc.

After getting certificate, he studied poster painting under U Aung Myint, U Chit Swe, U Kyaw Nyunt and U Maung Maung. Between 1975 to 1980, he painted posters. Between 1980 to 2000, he painted film poster under the name Bagyi Htay Aung and Group for the downtown Cinemas. Between 1994 to 2012, he served as the educational officer of Myanmar  Panyoeyer Artists (Baho). Between 1996 to 1998, he painted wall paintings in Shweli, China. In 2001, he painted in the Gem Museum of Mila, Shan State. Between 2007 to 2009, he painted the life story of the Lord Buddha in Global Pagoda, in Mumbai, India. From 1980 to this day he has participated in many group shows.

Pan Gyi Soe Moe is a prominent Burmese Asian Modern & Contemporary artist, born in 1944. His multifaceted talents extend beyond the realm of art; he is also an Academy Award-winning filmmaker and holds the esteemed position of being the patron of the Myanmar Film Industry Association. Furthermore, Pan Gyi Soe Moe serves as a patron of the Myanmar Professional Photographers’ Association, showcasing his dedication to various forms of visual arts.

As an artist, Pan Gyi Soe Moe’s work is a fusion of traditional and contemporary elements, reflecting his profound connection to the rich cultural heritage of Myanmar and its diverse landscapes. His ability to capture the essence of Myanmar’s culture and natural beauty has earned him recognition as a significant figure in the world of art.

In 2019, Pan Gyi Soe Moe achieved international acclaim when his painting “GOING HOME” was offered at Sotheby’s Hong Kong, marking his presence on the global art stage.

1939 He was born on June 18 in Kyu Farm Village, Pound Township. In 1959, he passed the university matriculation with an additional subject in painting, and in 1964, he received a bachelor of arts degree from Yangon University. In 1969, he achieved the Master of Arts qualification. From 1965 to 1972, he worked as a tuitor in Burmese language departmet in Mandalay University of Medicine Mandalay Agricultural University, University of Education and also at the Workers’ College. From 1972 to 1974, he studied painting at the National Institute of Fine Arts in Paris, France. In 1984 – 1986, he had the opportunity to study art for the second time.

From 1976 to 1982, an art lecturer at the University of Education, from 1983 to 1985, the principal of Yangon Art and Sculpture School. From 1985 to 1999, Art Research Officer at the Department of Fine Arts. Also, served as Deputy Director, Vice Rector of Cultural University.

Since 1964, the public newspaper Mirror, Myanmar light, Doet Kyaung Thar, Pan, Shumawa, Ngwe Tar Yi, Phyu Ni Nyo Pyar, he wrote many articles on arts. He served as the editor-in-chief of ‘Pan’ magazine and ‘Hla Pa’ magazine. His another pen name is ‘Win Pa’. In 1976, he published the book “Paris Painting Tour”.

In 1943, U Tin Aung Htaik, a well-known artist in Myanmar, was born in the city of Monywa. In the 1960s, he enrolled in the Mandalay State School of Fine Arts, where he studied under U Kan Nyunt, U Aye Kyaw, U Chit Mye, and U Lu Tin. At the Command and General Staff College in Bahtoo Township, Shan State, he later attained to the position of art master.

He left the War Museum and Defense Services Historical Research Institute in 1995 as an artist. He created a significant number of paintings, took part in more than 100 group exhibitions, and staged 11 solo exhibitions. His preferred medium was watercolor, therefore that’s what he painted the most of the time.

Aung Kyaw Tun, born in 1969, is a prominent Burmese artist known for his creative contributions to the art scene. Holding a B.Sc in Chemistry since 1994, Aung Kyaw Tun’s artistic journey has been influenced by the guidance of mentors such as U Min Thu, Kyaw Kyaw Win, U Zaw Min, and exposure to media studies.

In his versatile career, Aung Kyaw Tun has served as a Freelance Artist and Advertising Manager. From 1988 to 1999, he made significant contributions to the realm of commercial art, specializing in cinema posters and other commercial artworks.

Awards have recognized Aung Kyaw Tun’s talent, with selected artworks earning accolades at THE BEPPU ASIA BIENNALE OF [year not specified].

Aung Kyaw Tun’s artistic expressions reflect a synthesis of academic knowledge in chemistry and a profound understanding of visual arts. His diverse contributions to commercial art and the recognition received in prestigious exhibitions underscore his impact on the Burmese art scene.

Wa Thone

Wa Thone

Wathone, also known as U Khin Hla, was a distinguished Burmese artist celebrated for his watercolor and batik paintings. A realist and traditionalist, he studied under masters such as Ba Swe, Ba Yin Gyi, and Lun Gywe. Beginning his career in 1964 with magazine illustrations, he created the renowned comic strip Linkadepa Chitthu. His works were exhibited in Yangon, Seoul (1988), and Philadelphia (1993). A documentary on his life, A Sketch of Wathone, directed by Kyi Phyu Shin, won the Best Shorts Award at the 2008 National Geographic Society’s All Roads Film Festival.
